Almost every AC quote in Dubai is made of three parts: the call-out or diagnostic fee, labour, and parts. Understanding those three lines is the difference between a fair invoice and a padded one.
Typical price ranges in Dubai
These are the ranges commonly quoted by residential AC companies in Dubai. They are a guide for sanity-checking a quote, not a price list — your building, unit type and access all change the number.
| Work | Common range (AED) |
|---|---|
| Call-out / diagnostic visit | 100 – 250 (often waived if you proceed) |
| Basic split AC service & clean | 150 – 350 per unit |
| Deep coil cleaning | 250 – 600 per unit |
| Gas top-up / refrigerant refill | 250 – 700 depending on gas type |
| Capacitor or contactor replacement | 200 – 500 |
| Fan motor replacement | 400 – 1,200 |
| Compressor replacement | 1,500 – 4,000+ |
| Duct cleaning (apartment) | 500 – 1,500 |
| Annual maintenance contract (AMC) | 400 – 1,200 per unit per year |
The five things that move the price
- Refrigerant type. R22 systems are older and the gas is more expensive and being phased out. R410A and R32 units are usually cheaper to recharge.
- Unit type. A window unit is a quick job. A ducted split with the fan coil above a hard ceiling, or a central system tied into a chiller, takes longer and sometimes needs two technicians.
- Access. If the condenser sits on a high-rise balcony ledge, a roof, or behind a locked service shaft that building management has to open, expect extra labour and scheduling delay.
- Timing. Emergency and late-night work in July costs more than a booked slot in January. That is real cost, not a scam — technicians are paid overtime.
- Whether the fault was diagnosed correctly. The most expensive AC repair in Dubai is the one done twice. A company that refills gas without finding the leak will be back in six weeks, and you pay again.
Warning signs in a quote
- A gas refill recommended without any leak test. Refrigerant does not get consumed; if it is low, it escaped somewhere.
- A compressor replacement quoted on the first visit with no pressure or electrical readings shared.
- No written breakdown of parts versus labour.
- Cash-only, no invoice, no warranty on the part fitted. Ask for at least 30–90 days on labour and the manufacturer warranty on parts.
What to ask before you agree
- What exactly failed, and how did you test it?
- Is the part original or aftermarket?
- What is the warranty on the part and on the labour?
- If this does not fix it, what do I pay on the next visit?
Getting a comparable price
Prices only mean something when the scope is identical. Describe the same problem, unit type and area to each company. That is exactly what our request flow captures before anyone contacts you — service, symptom, property type, area and urgency — so the provider quotes against a real brief instead of guessing.
