What genuinely justifies an emergency call-out
- No cooling at all, with infants, elderly residents or anyone unwell in the home.
- Water pouring from a ceiling or unit, risking electrical damage.
- A burning smell, sparking or a breaker that trips the moment it is reset.
- Complete failure in a villa or office where a whole floor depends on one system.
What can usually wait until morning
Weak airflow, a mild smell, a noise that has been there for weeks, or one room out of four being warm. These are real faults, but they cost noticeably less on a normal weekday slot.
What after-hours work costs
Expect a premium on the call-out fee for nights, Fridays and public holidays — commonly AED 150 to 400 on top of the standard visit. Parts pricing should not change; if a quote at 11pm includes an unusual parts markup, get it in writing and compare in the morning.
While you wait
- Switch the system off at the thermostat if it is leaking water, and put a bucket under the drip.
- Close curtains on sun-facing windows and keep internal doors open to move air.
- Run ceiling and pedestal fans; moving air lowers perceived temperature several degrees.
- Move sleeping arrangements to the coolest room in the home.
Getting someone out faster
Have the building name, unit number, AC type and a one-line description of the fault ready. Access permission from building security is the single biggest delay in Dubai towers — call the guard desk before the technician arrives.
